Founded by Jax, Mara Works was born from a want to redefine the essence of accessible luxury in jewellery. The Cambridge-based brand produces hand-made jewellery using only high quality, sustainably sourced beads, each piece made-to-order and personally designed and crafted by Jax, her daughter, Matilda, and friend Nat. You won’t receive a piece that hasn’t passed through their hands.
Its versatile designs cater to all - elegant yet playful beaded necklaces and bracelets, intended to be seen and loved everyday. Layer them together, with your existing jewels or let them stand alone as statement pieces and infuse a stylish spirit into every ensemble.
Drawing inspiration from its African heritage, the jewellery celebrates rich, vibrant colour - from lagoon blues to papaya pinks and Saharan golds, each reminiscent of African life and landscape. The Mara Works colour wheel explains the powerful meaning behind each colour combination and the intended effect on its wearer.
With strong family ties to Africa, Jax, Matilda and Nat donate all proceeds from Mara Works directly to CAMFED - a social enterprise they have worked closely with for many years which supports girls in rural Africa to learn and lead. Through grassroots-led education programmes, it catalyses the power of the most vulnerable girls and young women to create the future they imagine; for themselves, for their communities, and for Africa.
